General Description

This project consisted of new construction, renovations of the existing “J” Building and replacement of the Surgery Center Building on the Nationwide Children’s Hospital campus. The new building includes exam, treatment and procedure rooms for the GI department, four outpatient surgery rooms with affiliated pre- and post-op areas, an outpatient psychology department and a clinical research group.

Key Features
  • Steam and normal power are supplied by the existing central power house
  • Standby power is supplied by a new 1,000-kW generator
  • Air-cooled chillers were provided to serve the normal and 24/7 system cooling needs due to a lack of central power house capacity
  • Revisions to the Wexner Corridor include revised light fixtures, layout and switching for the ceiling and wall fixtures to accommodate the new atrium between the new and existing buildings
