General Description

The main project included the construction of a new learning center that featured classrooms, a theatre, indoor greenspace, an animal demonstration area, and holding and support offices. The learning center achieved LEED Silver status. Additional smaller projects included the construction of a new outdoor wolf exhibit with a viewing cabin, a remodel of the Vanishing Giants Bull Elephant exhibit (which involved a new exhibit yard and new stalls in the existing building as well as repurposing giraffe stalls to bull elephant stalls), relocating bleacher seating to the pool area, the addition of new chutes and gates, a pavilion remodeled into toilet facilities and plans for future animal relocations.

HAWA designed the HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical systems for the new learning center as well as the exhibit.
